2011 Becas BallPuerto Vallarta

On February 26, 2011, the beautiful patio of the Casa Magna Marriott sparkled with the last vestiges of the sunset and the colorfully clad Becas Vallarta supporters who were there to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of this completely volunteer foundation which over the last fifty years has funded the education of thousands of Puerto Vallarta young people, eighth grade through university.

The atmosphere was alive with music, warm weather, conviviality and anticipation of what was ahead. Handsome waiters served the crowd with Margaritas and wine donated by Nina's Cork + Bottle, Cavas de Thierry, Coyul Licoria, El Dorado, La Palapa, Outback, River Café, and two anonymous benefactors. As each guest entered she or he was given a unique gift bag by a smiling Becado (scholarship student). These gift bags were donated and prepared by Marcelo Mico Pilates aided by the Timothy Real Estate Group.

Inside was a complimentary admission ticket to Fandango from Salvador Luna Peña of Fandango, which is valid when used with a purchase of a $150 peso companion ticket. I am still blown away that Salvador, with the urging of Sergio Zepeda, the Teatro Vallarta Manager, donated 300 complimentary $450 peso tickets to us.

This is the third year that Carol and Charlotte at Xocodiva Chocolates have prepared and donated 300 little packages of their chocolates, which are indeed the "Food of the Gods." The Timothy Group donated refrigerator magnets with the important Vallarta telephone numbers, Marcelo Mico Pilates and Spa prepared bath salts, beautifully and colorfully packaged, both June Rosen Lopez Jewelry and La Leche Restaurant gave 10% discount cards. June, one of our perennial donors also will give 10% of the purchase of any jewelry bought with this card to Becas. What a treat for our attendees and another proof of the incredible support given to us by our community.

When the guests entered the dazzling ballroom they were stunned by the absolute perfection of the setting. Rocco Troyani Productions and President Mariel de Fregoso exceeded everyone’s expectation with this incredible tableau. Tables with dramatic arrangements of white calla lilies and colorful pansies complimented the exquisite china and glassware. The tables were comfortably spaced around two dance floors that soon were filled with bodies swaying to the melodic sounds of Grupo Cubana.

Trio, Vitea and Anfitrion de Mexico donated both white and red wine, which was served throughout the gourmet dinner of Lobster Bisque, Endives Salad with Honey & Apple Vinaigrette, Grilled Salmon with Dijon Sauce, Wild Mushroom Risotta and Creme Brulee. Vegetarian and Chicken Dinners were available for those who don’t eat fish. While everything was absolute delicious, I want to compliment the Marriott chefs for their Lobster Bisque, which was a gourmet’s delight!

President Mariel de Fregoso welcomed the almost 300 attendees to this Fifty Year Celebration and acknowledged many who were with us who had their lives changed by the education they received through Becas.

Judy and Angelo Galeana, early members of Becas, took a personal interest in each of the young students. They traveled by bus to each of the ten junior highs in which we had becados and came to know the young people intimately. Husband and I joined them in this endeavor when we started with Becas and were amazed what they were able to do. They employed several of the Becados for after school work in their spacious home on Francisca Rodriguez in El Centro and served as mentors to those they could not actually employ. Although Angelo has passed away, Judy remains an active part of Becas and is one of our reliable Compadres. She invited many of the becados whom she had helped in past years to be her guests at this fifty year celebration even though she could not join them.

We were thrilled that Guadalupe Espino Ochoa, now a lawyer, and his brother Cesar Espino Ochoa, now a psychologist, and both prominent in their home town of Talpa de Allende, were able to make the trip down to the Ball. They were accompanied to the event by Bill Worth, and Guy Lawlor, who, along with Galeanas and Becas, helped them every step of the way to becoming professionals. Lupe actually lived in Judy and Angelo’s home for much of his university career as he could not afford to rent a place in Vallarta. Judy also helped Cesar with his lodging and was his “Vallarta Mom” as well as his mentor while studying for his university degree.

Dr. José Guadalupe Carrillo Soto, Orthodontist practicing on Calle Allende in el centro, became a becado in eighth grade and continued with the program until he received his professional degree. Lupe was another whom Judy helped by giving him part time work in her home to augment his income, as well as encouraging him in his school work. He has kept in touch with us through the years and we are so proud of our Dr. Lupe!

Another prominent professional in Puerto Vallarta who attended the ball is Lic. Marcelo Lara. He has Bernice Starr, Becas, Judy and Angelo Galeana to thank for his education as they all took part in getting him into school and encouraging him along the way. He is now the Jefe of all Combustibles at our airport here in Vallarta and recently earned his law degree at CUC to add to the degree he earned with the very first graduating class at our branch of the University of Guadalajara, CUC.

José Avalos Grano, another guest at the ball whom Judy has mentored and mothered, now has his law degree and is practicing here in Vallarta, but has not given up his connection to Judy. He still helps out in her Vallarta home as she is in Scottsdale, Arizona a good part of the year now.

There was one successful becado at the table who did not have Judy as a mentor, but our founder Bernice Starr. L.C.P. (CPA) Guillermo Arechiga López was one of the becados that Bernice Starr arranged to send to Mexico City to go to high school when Puerto Vallarta had none. It took him several years with many detours, but now is a licensed accountant who is the Director of Ecopa and is very proud of his Becas connection.

In addition to our little group of successful becados, one of our founders, Lupita Sanchez de Covarrubias, was in attendance. We are so proud that Lupe is well and still active in Becas and the community. Her passion at this moment is raising funds for the Asilio de San Juan Diego, a long time dream of hers that is almost to fruition. Email Lupe at malupita88(at)hotmail.com for information on a fabulous event to raise funds for the Old Folks Home coming up.

Joan Cannon, Jenny Jenkins and Margaret Tolton took on the job of the Silent Auction. All the rest of us had worked to get donations for the auction, with Pat Bendix and Aurora de la Torre pushing me very hard as to whom got the most gifts. The items were arranged in such an eye catching way and were of such high caliber that every item sold!

Gifts were donated by Artell, Barcelo Hotel, Café des Artistes, Canopy River, Casa Espiritu, Casa Magna Marriott. Casa Magna Marriott Champions Sports Bar, Casa Magna Marriott Mikado, Casa Isabel, Casa Encantada-Patzcuaro, Victoria of Casa Encantada, Cassandra Shaw Jewelry, Club de Golf Marina, Daiquiri Dick's, Dhelma Nutricion Y Medicina Estetica, Dickinson Guest House Guadalajara, El Eden Eco Park, Elements, Embarcadero, Época, Four Seasons-Mexico City, French Riviera, Grand Bay Hotel, Island Navidad, Hacienda San Angel, Friendly Hotel, June Rosen Jewelry, La Leche, Lalo Morales, La Palapa, Mundo de Azulejos, No Way José!, Florese Vallarta, Quinta Don Jose-Tlaquepaque, River Café, Ingé Lokos, Tequila Don Crispin and Venus Sunshine.

Nino Foppiani of Mexico City once again donated a piece of his exquisite jewelry as a door prize. Dainty earrings of white gold decked with tiny diamonds were won by one of our own, Lic. José Avalos Grano. Other door prizes of two bottles of red wine donated by Liverpool were won by several attendees.

Now to the dancing. Grupo Cubana pulled out all stops with their eclectic music and their dancers taking on the guests. ¡Muchisimas Gracias a Todos!

Holiday Happening at Avalon

Picture this scene. Handsome and talented Los Bambinos and Troubadour Jorge Acosta strumming and singing, buff waiters serving drinks of your choice and hors de oeuvres from PV's best restaurants: Kaiser Maximilian, La Palapa, Daiquiri Dick's, The River Café, Trattoria Michel and Food by Seth. Then visualize the most incredible views of Vallarta and the beautiful Bahia de Banderas.

That was exactly what the more than 150 Becas supporters experienced on December 2, 2010 at the Holiday Happening at Avalon. Additionally, Becados (scholarship students) from local universities assisted Becas members host the event and conducted tours of three of the most interesting and beautiful condos in that unique complex.

The first condo on tour featured the designs of Odette Robinson of In-Decor, including a free form glass wall in the kitchen and a custom range hood with wood trim on stainless steel. The second was one of a very few combined units at Avalon. The owner designed the condo to create generously proportioned open living spaces with a feeling of floating and separating private quarters from guest rooms.

The third condo of the tour was a fabulous penthouse. Mateo Alvarez of Equilibrio in Puerto Vallarta designed the interiors of this two-story penthouse which features incomparable art by José Moreno- Bolivia, Portal Pasten-Querétaro, and Edgar Martínez, Marta Gilbert, Claudia Ramos, Juan Pablo and Ada Colorina-Puerto Vallarta.

The outdoor living space features an imaginative wall by Pedro Sauvignon-Valle de Bravo, Mexico and many more incredible pieces of art. The owner quipped that "the small duck in the plunge pool is not attributed to any known artist." But sculptures and a wall fountain are attributed to Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara's Sergio Bustamante.

From six to nine p.m. small groups continuously toured the condos of their choice where Becados, and in most instances, the owners were to be sure that the tours were pleasant experiences and to answer questions. After viewing a condo, guests returned to the Sky Bar for more refreshments, entertainment and conviviality.

Becas members, students and supporters did everything possible to make it an experience not to be forgotten, which was a comment frequently heard from many a Happening-attendee. But all of this could not have happened without the tireless work of Becas member Suzie Erikson, and Monica Monteon, Manager of Avalon, Ron Morgan who furnished all the liquid refreshments as well as the waiters, bar tenders, and more, Linda Wirth who made all the signs, maps and more, Seth Cloutman who coordinated the generous restaurants' donations, Mary Megin de Franco and Polly Vicars who tried to keep it all together.

Becas Vallarta has great praise and huge thanks to musicians Los Bambinos and Jorge Acosta who donated their time and talent entertaining; the owners of Kaiser Maximilian, La Palapa, Daiquiri Dick's, The River Café, Trattoria Michel and Food by Seth for contributing the unique presentations of delicious food; Becas supporter Fidel Avalos Grano for providing valet parking; Bob Price from Vallarta Botanical Gardens and Maripepa Gonzalez of Floart for the exquisite floral arrangements that decorated the outdoor space.

This unique event, which everyone says must be repeated next year, yielded the funds for fifteen university or nineteen high school scholarships for a whole year. Becas is so grateful to the Vallarta community for its unfailing support. This school year Becas Vallarta is funding scholarships for 376 local girls and boys of great ability and limited financial resources - the most ever. To sustain this level of funding requires that we volunteers raise more than $150,000 USD each year. Events such as this Holiday Happening help fill the coffers and offer unique experiences to our supporters.

A Hole in One at the Club Corp Becas Golf Classic

Friday, November 5th was a beautiful fall day with the grounds of the Puerto Vallarta Marel and CarlosMarina Golf Course impeccably groomed for the first ever Becas (America-Mexico Foundation, Inc) Golf Tournament.

For weeks AMF President and initiator of the event Carlos Fregoso and K.C. Crandall, club manager, had been working with the generous sponsors, Bajo Cero Hielo, Bebidas Vallarta, Benitto’s, Casa Magna Marriott, Corona, El Arrayán, Kaiser Maximilian, Liverpool, Ocho Tostadas, Pepsi, Silver Purified Water, Scotiabank, Toyota Puerto Vallarta, Trio, Vector Casa de Bolsa and Vitea, to make everything perfect for the golfers.Volunteers

Alive with carts carrying enthusiastic golfers hoping for a "hole in one" on the 18th to win the Toyota Rave-4 from Toyota Puerto Vallarta, groups of four and a few of three teed off from their assigned holes at 11:00 am.

In addition to the Toyota there were super prizes for closest to the pin on all the par 3 holes. Becas volunteers, Barbara Poindexter, Suzie Erikson, Carl Johnson, Rod Scriban, and Ron Morgan were ready with paper, pen and measuring tape to record first, second and third closest to the pins.

Toyota CarsCarl Johnson was waiting at Hole 6 for the last group when suddenly a ball bounced on the green right into the cup! "Hole in One!" yelled Carl, as golfer Barbara Greenburg made her way to see what she had done! It was the wrong hole for the Toyota, but a hole in one is a hole in one and she was thrilled as her mates cheered her accomplishment!

The golfers returned to the Club House, where delicious and beautifully displayed food from the generous restaurant sponsors was waiting. El Arrayán, Trio & Vitea, Ocho Tostadas, Kaiser Maximilian and Benitto’s each had a specialty that delighted the palate making it very hard not to eat from each one.Vector

In the spacious dining area of the club, each golfer found Liverpool gift bags with goodies from the various sponsors. After finishing the scrumptious food, Carlos and K.C. awarded the prizes to the winners. First prize, with a score of 57, went to the Yogi, Duran, Gonzalez and Gladish group.

Second prize, with a score of 62, went to Pelegrini, Nunes, Escoto and Cuevas Group. Third Prize, with a score of 67, went to Whiteside, Eastcott, Rabune and Carter Group. Congratulations to all these great golfers.

Then the prizes were awarded to the first, second and third closest to the pin on the par three holes. Of course Barbara, with her hole in one received the largest ovation from her fellow golfers as well as a super prize.

After that raffle, prizes were awarded producing many more winners as each golfer was given a raffle ticket when he or she signed in. Prizes ranged from stays in the Marriott, the Melia and the Westin to gift certificates from Liverpool, green fees at the Vista and Marina Golf Courses, travel bags from Vector, red and white wine, a microwave oven, Ipods and more. Everyone got a golf cap, so that no one went home empty-handed.

Although that was really my first time on a golf course, I could see that the event was well organized, the sponsors enthusiastic as well as generous, and the golfers eager and fun loving. There was a spirit of comradery which seemed to exceed any spirit of competition. There was laughter and expressions of joy from golfers, sponsors and us Becas volunteers.

I think I can safely say that this first Club Corp Becas Golf Classic was a rousing success without even mentioning the money raised that will pay for more scholarships for Puerto Vallarta young people as well as help Club Corp’s charities.

The 2010 Puerto Vallarta Culinary Jam Session Rocked!

The Casa Magna Marriott in Marina Vallarta was the scene of 300 (or more) Vallartenses dressed in their finest, living it up, greeting old friends and making new. AGAPE, Arturo and Los Hijos de Dios, Asilo San Juan Diego and Becas Vallarta were the recipients of the largesse of the sponsors of the event: Café des Artistes, Casa Magna Marriott, Kaiser Maximilian, La Palapa, Le Kliff, Los Xitomates, Trio, Vista Grill and Vitea.

The Palamazo, Culinary Jam Session, began with a cocktail hour featuring delicious hors d'oeuvres prepared and artistically served by the chefs and staff of three of the sponsoring restaurants. Le Kliff offered tasty satay of chicken and of salmon as well as crisp won ton shrimp.

Chef Thierry Blouet of Café des Artistes presided over a beautiful display of brochettes of duck with dried fruits and mango chutney, rolls with salmon and a colorful and delectable bouillabaisse. Chef Luis Fitch of Los Xitomates offered pork tacos and brochettes of various cheeses with mushrooms and tomatoes. Delicious botanas, animated conversations, hugs and besos of greeting all accompanied by the strains of Napoleon’s guitar, sum up the fun-filled cocktail hour.

During the cocktail hour, U.S. Consular Agent, Kelly Trainor, and Marriott Public Relations and Marketing Manager, Lourdes Bizarro, were everywhere tending to the last minute details making the event the huge success it was.

Among the supporters of the four charities were many folks from the business community as well as prominent residents. A few of the generous supporters I saw meeting and mixing were Ana Hernandez, Bob and Carolyn Lamb, Carl Timothy, Caty Huet, Coco Iñiguez, Cuquita and Enrique Huerta, d’Rachel, Felipe Suberville, Irene and Carl Johnson, Jane Peabody, Joanie and Tony, Kai Doyle, Kathy Van Rohr, Linda and Terry Wirth, Lupe Covarrubias, Marcelo Mico, Mary and Alfredo Franco, Melchor and Martha Cortes, Mike Holland, Pat and Richard Bendix, Rocco Troyani, Rosalba Ceveño, Socorro Macias Marquez, Ted Pentecost, and of course Husband and Becas Presidents Mariel and Carlos Fregoso. As you can see from the photos, I just scratched the surface of the supporters of the event.

After the convivial cocktail hour, where all the proceeds from the cash bar also went to the four charities, we entered the dining area where very attractive tables set for ten awaited us and beautiful music was provided by saxophonist Papo and songs by Irving Flores.

Although most had eaten too many of the scrumptious botanas, we hadn’t seen anything yet. Waiters filled our wine glasses, as the first course of scallops with lemon and vinaigrette of ginger prepared by Marriott’s chef Fred Ruiz, was served. We then were presented with a hot corn and potato chowder prepared by La Palapa and Vista Grill that was hot and absolutely delicious!

As we ate each gourmet course, we were shown the fruits of the incredible preparation done by Lourdes and the Marriott staff on large screen TVs. We saw exactly where our donations go and the work done in AGAPE, Arturo & Los Hijos de Dios, Asilo San Juan Diego and Becas Vallarta.

We heard from recipients of our donations and saw the Asilo San Juan Diego coming to life before our eyes. I am sure many were amazed to see first hand what these awe-inspiring charities are accomplishing for the people of Puerto Vallarta.

Lourdes and her group did not stop there. They went to each restaurant to film the chefs preparing each course. So not only did we relish the dishes we were eating, we were treated by the Chefs to a cooking class as they explained each step of the preparation to us. What an imaginative idea!

While watching the preparation, we were served plates of rib eye steak with potatoes au gratin, green beans with Gorgonzola & Chimichurri sauces prepared by Andreas Rupprechter of Kaiser Maximilian. How that wait staff was able to serve everything hot and delectable I can’t imagine, but they did.

And then, Trio and Vitea produced the dessert of the year - a strawberry and almond tart with white chocolate ice cream! Those who know me also know I never eat dessert, but that dessert could not be resisted!

Kelly and Lourdes, along with Mariel, Caty, Socorro and Rosalba conducted a raffle that brought out lots of squeals of delight as party goers won prizes donated by the generous Vallarta business community. I was lucky enough to win the gorgeous floral arrangement donated by Maripepa Gonzalez of Floart.

Certificates of appreciation were presented to each of the participating chefs and they in turn presented an award to Dennis Whitelaw, the manger of Casa Magna Marriott who, in my opinion, is the number one supporter of Vallarta’s charities. There were many hugs and a few tears as we saluted these busy men and women who give so selflessly of their time and money.

The evening ended with Los Unos Band playing for dancing, but regrettably most of us had eaten just too darn much to do anything more than head home to bed.

Salutes to Casa Magna Marriott and their amazing staff, the chefs and owners of Café des Artistes, Casa Magna Marriott, Kaiser Maximilian, La Palapa, Le Kliff, Los Xitomates, Trio, Vista Grill and Vitea, US Consular Agent Kelly Trainor and all of you who support AGAPE, Arturo & Los Hijos de Dios, Asilo San Juan Diego and Becas Vallarta - and showed it by attending this grand event.

OUTBACK BECAS EVENT GREAT SUCCESS

Despite the fact that September is considered the hardest month of the year to do fund raising, that the economy both in Mexico and the United States is awful, that most of theOutback “snowbirds” have not returned to Vallarta, the September 2 Outback Dinner was a rousing success in every aspect of the word "success!"1

Sujay Cross, the Public Relations Manager for Outback told us the maximum tickets we could sell was 100 as they had to have room for their regular customers. Most of us laughed and said, at least to ourselves, that we would be lucky to sell 50! But through the efforts of our devoted members and the incredible support of Vallartenses, we sold a whopping 99 tickets.

Outback donated all the proceeds from the ticket sales to Becas making it possible to fund 16 junior high scholarships! Additionally the proceeds from the raffle and silent auction afforded the funding of another 6 junior high scholarships. Imagine - all that fun and good food making it possible for 22 eager young girls or boys of low economic resources, but high educational aspirations to attend another year of school thanks to Outback and you!

The attendees were a cross section of Puerto Vallarta - local business people, former scholarship students, Becas members Outbackboth new and old, and supporters of this scholarship program that is in its 50th year.

Some of the attendees were Maestro Melchor Cortes Cortes with his wife Martha Salcedo de Cortes from Melchor’s Spanish Language School, his brother-in-law Eliseo Flores Salcedo who was a becado and now is a valued employee at Ford Dealership as is his companion, Ingrid Macias Cruz, Cuqita and Enrique Huerta from Cuquita’s Beauty Salon, Artist Ed Alejandro and Bill Wurzell from La Palapa Condominios, Becas members Presidents Mariel and Carlos Fregoso, Vice Presidents Linda Azcarate (with husband Eduardo) Pat Bendix (with husband Richard), Polly Vicars (with husband Hubert), Treasurer Cuquita Preciada, Linda Wirth (with husband Terry) Elinor Prawer (with husband Harvey), Suzie Erikson(with husband Lance) Estrella Rodriguez, Marta Vial, Cheo Rangel, Sergio Valle Pardo along with new members Yolanda Lgartúa, Aurora de la Torre de Horcasitas (with husband Luis Horcasitas) Pedro de Silva Ruiz Outbackand Julio César García Peña.

Additionally several perennial donors to the raffle and silent auction were in attendance: Marcelo Mico of Pilates, June Rosen Lopez of June Rosen Galleria and Jeff Coates and his lovely wife from Los Veranos Canopy Tour.

Everyone seemed to having a great time enjoying each other and the fabulous food. A surprise innovation for Becas was four door prizes, red and white wine from Coyul, a gorgeous anthurium from Vallarta Botanical Gardens and an official World Cup Football.
The raffle brought out lots of cheers and boos as people won the prizes donated by Acqua Day Spa & Gym, Andales, Casandra Shaw Jewelry, Coco’s Kitchen, El Mundo de Azulejos, Galeria June Rosen Lopez, Jan & John Meyer, La Palapa Restaurant, Los Veranos Canopy Tour, Marcel Mico Pilates, No Way José!, Salon Diva’s, Tapiz at the Vallarta Botanical Gardens, The River Café, and OutbackXocodiva Artisan Chocolates.

Some real bargains were found at the Silent Auction for nights at Hacienda Jalisco in San Sebastian and Casa Obelisco in San Pancho as well some fabulous jewelry.

The staff at Outback outdid themselves in seeing that everyone was served quickly and with the correct orders. Wonderfully, the assistant to Sujay is Edgar Solis Lopez who was a becado many years ago when our founder Bernice Starr was running the program. Everywhere I go in Puerto Vallarta I run into successful people who got their educations from Becas Vallarta. That is inspiration enough to keep all of us volunteers working to keep the program solvent and viable.

On that note I want everyone to know that Becas has no paid staff, no office, no Outbacktelephone, no computers or office equipment. Our marvelous volunteers use their own equipment to produce whatever is needed to keep us going. What a tribute to the generosity and devotion of our small group of Mexicans, Americans and Canadians!
Thank you Outback for a fabulous evening! Thank you Vallarta for donating gifts and attending this fun event. Mark your calendars now for Thursday, November 11, 2010 for Outback’s 10th Anniversary Fiesta which will again benefit Becas Vallarta, Casa Hogar and Pasitos de Luz. So get ready Vallarta, I’ll soon be calling you to buy tickets and donate gifts.

A SALUTE TO OUR BECAS COMPADRES

We came up with the idea of having a select group of people of means who would donate $5000 US to Becas annually, giving us a base to rely on which along with our fund raising events would allow us to expand our program of 300 scholarships annually.

We needed a name for this group with meaning.  We consulted Becas friend and supporter, Spanish Maestro, Melchor Cortes Cortes.  Knowing that he always greets his brother Gaspar with, "¿Que tal, Compadre?" (What's Up?)we asked why he would refer to his brother with a title, not a name.

Compadre MementoMelchor, in his best teacher's voice, explained that to be one's Compadre in this culture is the ultimate in status. A Compadre is a person to whom one has entrusted the welfare of his precious child in a ceremony that, while performed in a church, really transcends organized religion, and signifies a relationship between two people on a higher plane than even a blood relationship. WOW!

So armed with that information for a name, Becas members brain stormed on how to meet our need to generate more funds to sustain and expand our scholarship program for the large number of Puerto Vallarta girls and boys with great scholastic ability and small economic resources.

We decided that we must try to tap into a viable source here in our town: the banks, automobile dealerships, large companies that are bringing in their wares and developers who are building the condos that house the people who will keep those businesses going, as well as individuals who were lucky enough to be financially successful in their lives before moving to or visiting Puerto Vallarta.

Our brainstorming ended with a consensus that we should initiate a program where a donation of at least $5000 USD would make the donor a "Compadre of Becas," a person to whom we would entrust the welfare of our precious children now and in the future.

The first year was very successful with the developers of Molino de Agua becoming our initial Compadres along with seven individuals.  In the year 2009-2010 we had increased our Compadres to fourteen.  Unforunately, we didn’t reach many outside our small circle of tried and true Becas supporters, but this year we are determined to broadcast the value of this great program as far as we can.

The proof of the success of this nor 50 year old foundation is that in the forefront of Vallarta's vibrant community are doctors, dentists, lawyers, teachers, accountants, business men and women, all recipients of AMF scholarships, and all contributing greatly both to Vallarta and to the Foundation.

How great will it be when scores of you join Buri Gray, Ann and Jerry Lafferty, Nellie and Len Ambrose, María and Jesus Mendoza, Polly and Hubert Vicars, Isabel Manore, Judith Galeana and Juan Galeana, Oxxo, Clark Lipe, Joanie O'Brien y Tony Evans,  FinCoil Mexico (Dave McEwan & Ignacio Aguirre), Darla & Ernie Fowler, Nino Foppina as Becas Compadres? So call us and we'll come to you! Call me at (322) 223-1371, President Carlos Fregoso at 221-0789 or Jerry Lafferty at 221-6156. We await your calls!
